Singapore Comic Con (SGCC) 2022 Hosts A Prelude Event at City Square Mall (8 & 9 October 2022)

As announced earlier this year, Singapore Comic Con (SGCC) will be back with a physical event this year at Sands Convention Centre on 10 and 11 December 2022! Local and regional geeks are already familiar with the Red Dot Island's largest pop-culture event of the year. Ever since online ticketing was open, they have been eyeing guests announcements like a hawk.

Generation Experience, the convention's organiser, is keen to lure “casual fans” to the geek party as well. So, to give the general public as well as geeks a sneak peek of what SGCC is like, there will be a Prelude Event held at City Square Mall this weekend (8 and 9 October 2022), from 11 AM to 8 PM.

To kick-off the day, P4L* ("pop culture 4 Life!") the Official Mascot of SGCC, will be making its appearance for the first time ever! The mascot was designed by designer toys and art collectibles studio Mighty Jaxx.

Then, stay and enjoy the exciting activities and guest appearances lined up for the event. Here are some of the cool stuff you can look out for:

Singapore Comic Con (SGCC) 2019 - Livio Ramondelli, Joey Spiotto, Creees, Prema-Ja and Cosplayer Jin Join the Guest List

More guests have been announced for major local pop-culture event Singapore Comic Con (SGCC), which is scheduled for 7 & 8 December at Marina Bay Sands' Convention Centre.

Adding to the list of well-known comic book guests announced in the first round, like artists Greg Capullo and Jock, a few more interesting personalities will be joining the convention for a whirlwind weekend of meet and greets, and panels held live on stage.

Here are the latest guest announcements:

LIVIO RAMONDELLI

Livio Ramondelli is best known for his work on IDW's Transformers comics series, where he has done both covers and interior artwork. He is also a long time fan of the Transformers, so will be able to talk shop with fellow fans about the popular Autobots and Decepticons.

His other comic book work include Dark Horse's Star Wars series and Dynamite's Battlestar Galactica comics, as well as Pacific Rim for Legendary comics.

Livio Ramondelli's art style is detailed as well as cinematic, especially in terms of the lighting. So, Red Dot Diva is not surprised to learn that he has also worked on concept art for Victory Hill Productions’ upcoming Transformers Experience in Shanghai, DC Universe Online for Sony/DC Comics.

Live on Yahoo! - World Premiere of "Transformers: Age of Extinction" in Hong Kong tonight!

Tonight, starting from 7:45 PM, Hong Kong is set to be the stage of the World Premiere of "Transformers: Age of Extinction"!

If you have caught the trailer, the action-packed Michael Bay-helmed movie was partially filmed on location in Hong Kong, and with the help of visual effects, the city was heavily demolished by warring giant robots.

"Transformers: Age of Extinction" takes place four years after the last movie - a time when the Autobots and Decepticons have gone underground after being hunted by the government. That is until a mechanic discovered a machine that did not seem to be what it was.

To celebrate the World Premiere, director Michael Bay and cast members Mark Wahlberg, Nicola Peltz and Jack Reyne are set to land on the red carpet in Hong Kong. Joining them and performing on stage will be Grammy Award-winning rock band, Imagine Dragons!

Cybertron Convention 2012: Mostly Nostalgia and A Buying Frenzy

The only version of Transfomers Red Dot Diva remembers well was the animated series, "Beast Wars", and those noisy Michael Bay movies. "Beast Wars" was particularly memorable maybe because it was not anime-style and had a very entertaining script with several interesting characters.

Still, as unfamiliar with much of the Transformers world as she was, she crawled out of bed early Sunday morning to be at RWS Sentosa the opening of the Cybertron Convention 2012 mainly because of:

1. a press pass (she has already mentioned that she's a nosy person, ya?)
2. the opportunity to hang out with her cool geek buddies
3. to see and gauge what kind of crowds were coming for the convention

Filipino comics artist Mark Torres and companion Punky happened to be in town. And since there were spare passes available and it was their last day in Singapore, Red Dot Diva invited them to come long to the Cybertron Convention with the rest of the gang.

ILM Singapore's Visual Magic In "Transformers: Dark Side Of The Moon"

Industrial Light Magic (ILM), a division of Lucasfilm, has already been in Singapore for about 5 years. And lately, they have taken up more high-profile projects in the movie industry.

As a local, Red Dot Diva beamed with pride when she knew that the ILM Singapore team had a significant role in Paramount Studios' animated film, "Rango". (Read the interview with one of the "Rango" ILM team members here!)

Then mid last week, she received a nice surprise invitation to a ILM career talk specially for students on 9 July morning at the Cathay. The talk would be followed by the screening of "Transformers: Dark Side of the Moon" in 3D! Of course, she couldn't say no!
