Meet Mythical Dragons and Beasts at the Singapore Zoo - 17 November to 31 December

Unicorns, griffins and oh yes, Dragons! The Singapore Zoo turns into a fantasy world full of mythical creatures from 17 November to 31 December for their "Dragons and Beasts: Where Inspiration Meets Reality" event.

You will be able to find 17 fantastical beasts (in 3D form) from different cultures around the world at the "Valley of Myths", located near the Otter exhibit.

If you love dragons, you have to make your way there just to ogle at the majestic Ice Dragon Viserion from the insanely popular "Game of Thrones" TV series by HBO. Red Dot Diva knows he is going to be a beaut. Do try to avoid getting frozen to death though.

You will also get a chance to meet the Night King and his White Walkers in person. However, he will only arrive in our tropical Red Dot Island on certain dates (17, 18, 24 & 25 Nov 2018) on 11 AM and 2 PM. Maybe they can bring Winter here and help cool down the hot and humid weather a notch or two?

The Singapore zoo has also planned a slew of activities during this event which are perfect for families trying to keep their children occupied, and yet learn new things. Here are some of the activities:

- Meet A Real-Life Dragon sessions at the Dragon's Nest (pavilion opposite the Babirusa exhibit) on weekends and 25 Dec only. Nope, it's not the Komodo Dragon! Unless you have a death wish. You will get to meet the more amiable Bearded Dragon.

- Go on a Creature Researcher Trail (on weekends and 25 Dec only). Starting at the Dragon's Nest, you can go in search of real-life animals that inspire the creation of these fantastical beasts. Record your findings during your adventure, and you could redeem a prize.

- Who Inspired Who Game Challenge (on weekends and 25 Dec only) at the Frozen Tundra.  There will be 3 game stations for you to complete. The mission is to find out how reality is made myth, and you can redeem an exclusive collectible pin - while stocks last!

- Dragons and Unicorn Craft (on weekends and 25 Dec only). Use your imagination and translate that into crafting in items that are dragon and unicorn themed.

As mentioned above, there are event-exclusive collectible pins that you could win, but in Red Dot Diva's opinion, the best one is this one - the HBO Game of Thrones Dragon pin!

All you have to do is take a pic with Viserion, and your favourite beasts, and share it on Instagram with the hashtags #SingaporeZoo #DragonandBeasts. Easy, right? (Only on these days - 1, 2, 8 and 9 December.)

During the "Dragon and Beasts" event from 17 November to 31 December, the Zoo is giving a 45% off the second admission with every paying adult when you purchase your tickets online, making it more affordable to get your Beast mode on with a partner. However, do note that this promotion is for Local Residents only, and the second admission is valid for adult and child tickets for single-park admission to Singapore Zoo. Also, this offer is not valid for eve of Public Holiday and Public Holiday.

Instead of angels, elves and reindeer this festive season, heading to the Singapore Zoo seems like a unique and immersive way to spend time with family and friends. Who knows? You might actually get to meet the real Santa Claws.
