Sir Peter Blake: The Macallan Anecdotes of Ages Collection Gallery - A Visual Experience About Legacy and Pop Art

There are few things better than art and booze. Especially when they are appreciated together.

Red Dot Diva stumbled upon a lovely art exhibition hosted by luxury single malt whiskey brand The Macallan with just a few days till the end of its run. The exhibition entitled SIR PETER BLAKE: ANECDOTE OF AGES COLLECTION GALLERY is held at their store located within the Raffles Hotel. The last day of the event will be 9 July (Friday), and admission is complimentary!

For over 30 decades, reknown pop culture artist Sir Peter Blake, has collaborated with The Macallan regarding the designs of their whisky bottles. Hardcore Beatles fans will remember Sir Peter Blake as the one behind the sleeve design of their album, “Sgt. Pepper’s Lonely Hearts Club Band”. He also designed the cover for the Live Aid concert poster as well as the Band Aid single “Do They Know It's Christmas?”.

For the ANECDOTE OF AGES COLLECTION, this will be the third time that the pioneering artist and distillery have worked together. The sought-after collection consists of 13 bottles of rare 1967 whisky. The year 1967 has special significance as well. It was the year that Sir Peter Blake rocketed into the consciousness of pop-culture history with his iconic cover of the Beatles' album.

Red Dot Diva found the exhibition to be an interesting interactive experience. First, it takes you on a visit to Sir Peter Blake's eclectic London studio, which includes his work desk, many of his famous artwork, and a specially created cabinet showing the creative ideas and inspirations of the 13 one-of-a-kind bottle labels. The labels depict visual representations of the Macallan's history, natural surroundings of the estate and the community.

After dropping by the replica art studio, you get magically transported to a charming barley field, reminiscent of the distillery's estate in Speyside, Scotland. The eye-catching displays with old photos of the farm and distillery together with opportunities for Insta-selfies, help to make the exhibit fun and memorable.

The “mini Scotland” photo area offers a teeny bit of respite for those who have been itching to travel since the pandemic.

A sample of Down To Work Limited Edition bottle is also on display (pic below). The bottles from the collection are presented in a sleek European oak case, with photos of Sir Peter Blake's enduring journey with The Macallan. It is available for purchase for SGD 89,900 at the Macallan store and at selected retailers.

In addition, while enjoying the narrative of the exhibit, you can also collect QR codes from the displays. There will be a digital surprise if you manage to collect all the QR codes!

SIR PETER BLAKE: ANECDOTE OF AGES COLLECTION GALLERY not only offers exquisitely aged whisky for the enthusiasts, it also provides an extra element of visual story-telling for art lovers. After being on semi-lockdown for over a year, the imaginative journey to “another world” was really needed!
