Robert Downey Jr and Benedict Cumberbatch in Singapore for "Avengers: Infinity War" Fan Event on 16 April 2018

It's going to be red carpet (phew, it's not blue carpet!) time again at Marina Bay Sands (MBS).

On April 16, mega stars of Marvel's superhero action movie "Avengers: Infinity War", Robert Downey Jr (Tony Stark/ Iron Man) and Benedict Cumberbatch (Stephen Strange/ Doctor Strange), will meet fans at a special fan event as part of the film's publicity. YEAAAAASSSS, Team Rich Guys!!

Karen Gillan (Nebula) and director Joe Russo will join them for the occasion as well.

The fan event is free and open to the public, but there is a registration process this time round. Places are limited, and ticketing will be on a first-come, first-served basis. Details about time, venue and registration process will be revealed at MBS' website on 2 April, noon. So keep an eye on that page!

Many local fans who had attended the "Captain America: Civil War" fan event two years ago are still suffering from PTSD. At ground zero, the barricades and blue carpet itself kept shifting, and when the stars were ready to walk to the stage, all hell broke loose as the mass of fans surged to get closer to them. In addition to the lack of security, there was an awkward event layout, price-gourging "VIP" access (which did not benefit most of those who got the tickets), and to top it off, an awfully cringeworthy emcee on stage. Thanks to Red Dot Diva's wonderful geek bro, and a stroke of luck, she managed to score a selfie with Bucky himself, Sebastian Stan. So, the night did not end up a total bust.

Since there's going to be RDJ, Cumberbatch and Karen Gillan for the upcoming event, the same group of fans are willing to give the organizers another chance, hoping this won't end up in confusion and tears. Will important lessons be learnt from the "Civil War" fiasco? Will the new, first-come-first-served registration system improve the fan experience for "Infinity War"? Red Dot Diva guesses time will tell.

If you are wary of crowds and have already decided to stay home during the fan event, you can indulge in a countdown to April 26 when the "Avengers: Infinity War" movie opens in theatres islandwide.
