Watch Out For Marvel's "Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D."!

*checks satellite scans on screen and activates secure lock-down*

Sssh.

You did NOT read this.

Last night at a movie theatre, Marvel rounded up the Red Dot Island's geeks and fans (of which Red Dot Diva sneaked in as part of the herd), confisticated all their electronic devices (even those that recorded nary a thing aka the Kindle!) and force-fed them popcorn and Coke while they underwent a V.E.S. (i.e. Very Exclusive Screening).

Word is, that the V.E.S. was so exclusive in Asia, that the film reel was hand-carried by a trusted personnel to Red Dot Island.

Red Dot Diva  is still reeling over what happened... what she has SEEN and HEARD. The sensory after-effects are strong but she says that any true geek deserves to know these vital information. And she puts her life in danger transmitting the following data.

*something.. a shadow? .... just moved on one of Diva's security cam*

( gulp)

She has to hurry. So... commit these down to memory. Quick.

Design Film Festival 2013 Premieres "Comic-Con Episode IV: A Fan's Hope" in Singapore

This is the second year that the Design Film Festival is being held in Red Dot Island next weekend, on 15 and 16 June. But Red Dot Diva has to admit she has only heard about it a month ago!

The annual film festival aims to screen movies dedicated to the world of design, architecture, fashion and technology, and with it, their underlying sub-cultures. So, with that niche-y, high-brow expectation in mind, Red Dot Diva was a little surprised that geek culture was included in this year's festival's line-up.

To the curator Felix Ng's credit, he has managed to secure Morgan Spurlock's documentary on the Mother of all conventions - "Comic-Con Episode IV: A Fan's Hope" - as a local premiere screening right here on Red Dot Island. "Comic-Con Episode IV: A Fan's Hope" will be screened at The School of the Arts (SOTA)'s Drama Theatre, together with 11 other pieces, including "Google and the World Brain" and "Marina Abramovic: The Artist Is Present".

Now, local geeks who have been craving to get their butts to San Diego Comic-Con, will have the chance to experience what attending the world's largest comic convention might be like. If they haven't already caught the movie on DVD or *ahem* other means.

Star-Gazing At The "Iron Man 3" Red Carpet Premiere in LA

For any die-hard fan, it can be a fun thing to hang out at the red carpet barricades hoping to catch a glimpse of your favourite star at a Los Angeles movie premiere. How often does this happen in Red Dot Island anyway right?

So, yet again, Red Dot Diva is living vicariously through her good friend, Chelle and her red carpet adventures.

Here's her star-studded report from the recent "Iron Man 3" premiere at the El Capitan!

SDCC 2012 Recap: A First-Timer Kiwi at Comic-Con

One of the things that makes Comic-Con and other similar conventions special for Red Dot Diva, is the chance to network and make many more new friends!

At Comic-Con 2012, she got to know and roomed together with Felicia from "Middle Earth".

No, Felicia is not a Hobbit. :) She is actually a native of New Zealand and lives in Wellington. A newbie to hardcore geeky convention going, Felicia decided to pop her Comic-Con cherry this year. And Nathan Fillion is to be blamed. ;)

Here's Felicia's account of her week's adventures at Comic-Con:

ILM Singapore's VFX Puts The Smash Into "The Avengers"

Making gazillions of fanboys and fangirls all over the world squee with utter delight, Joss Whedon's fun take on Marvel's "The Avengers" movie has now crossed the hallowed USD 1 billion mark in the worldwide box office.

This would not have been possible, if there were no uniquely creative and hardworking VFX artists involved in various segments of the superhero ensemble film. For "The Avengers", the digital magic was done by ILM, the fore-runner of all things VFX!

Last Saturday at The Cathay, ILM Singapore hosted a VFX talk about "The Making of The Avengers" and special screening of the movie in 3D, to a group of polytechnic/ university students and faculty teachers as part of their drive to get more talent into Jedi Masters Program, an apprentice-training initiative.

Assembled! For the Avengers World Premiere in LA!

Ever fancy yourself strolling down a red carpet?

Well, Red Dot Diva's celeb-shoulder-rubbing glamourista pal Chelle managed to attend a red carpet premiere in Hollywood again recently. And this time, it was for the superhero movie most geeks have been waiting for - "The Avengers"!

Here is her account of the wonderful night amongst the stars.

On Wednesday, April 11th, I was lucky enough to be able to attend the red carpet premiere of "The Avengers" at the El Capitan Theater in Hollywood.

The day started out kinda chilly and rainy but as soon as we gathered at the barriers, the rain had pretty much gone away. Even though we didn’t need to stand at the barriers, Laura and I thought that it would be fun to hang out with fellow tumblr/ twitter friends including THE Godofbadassery who I think is a really cool sweet girl. We hung out till around 3pm and then headed back to my house (which was thankfully close to the theater) to get ready for our Avengers Adventure.
