Jiangshi Galore At Daniel Yu x Blaxk's Altered Realities: A Jiangshi Introspection Exhibition (till 20 Nov 2022)
Local toy designer and sculptor DANIEL YU takes centrestage at an exhibition hosted by collectibles store and creative space BLAXK at Funan Mall. The exhibition entitled Altered Realities: A Jiangshi Introspection launched on 30 September 2022, and it is still running till 20 November 2022.
Red Dot Diva got to know about DANIEL YU'S creations when she spotted his toys displayed at a Singapore Toy Games and Comic Convention many years ago. His iconic Jiangshi (commonly known as “Chinese vampire”, although it is more like a zombie?) vinyl figures beckoned to her dark, macabre heart. There is something nostalgic about the jiangshi. The creature is such a classic Asian horror trope that has been ingrained in our psyche, especially those who watched a lot of the Hong Kong horror movies of the '80s and '90s.
Altered Realities: A Jiangshi Introspection is dedicated to DANIEL'S Jiangshi and other toy designs. Creative works by thirteen local artists have also been invited to put their visual spin on the Jiangshi. With that in mind, Red Dot Diva had to pop by BLAXK for a look. She visited the space during the First Wave of the exhibition that included art interpretations by Allison M. Low, Clogtwo, erikartoon, Claire & Pann Lim, Inkten Nadirah, Ratking, and Zan Cheong.

BREAKING: Mark Nagata and Ziqi Wu Announces Maxtoy x Monster Little Exclusive at STGCC 2017
** Burst of Rainbow Confetti!!! **
Here's a SPECIAL announcement from our Glam Bloggers Alliance toy specialist, Ed of toys-etc!
MAXTOY x MONSTER LITTLE STGCC EXCLUSIVE
The countdown has begun over at Red Dot Diva, and with only 54 days to go, it's time to hustle for Singapore's only convention that matters. Of course, it's IMHO that you'll find another regional convention with a good mix bag of comics (Frank Cho!), toys (vinyl and resin stuff, folks! For fan service anime types, please head to you know where.) and cosplayers (OMG. Leon Chiro!). I'm cherry picking from the first wave of guest announcement, but seeing how it's STGCC's 10th anniversary, there will be more. Confirm guarantee chop.
Today, Red Dot Diva has the honour to reveal an exclusive collaboration between Mark Nagata of Maxtoy and Ziqi of Monster Little. Behold the gummy goodness of the Rainbow Dino!

STGCC 2016: Something Fishy Is Going On with Mame Moyashi
There's nothing that most Red Dot Islanders like more than scrumptious seafood. Hence, there's no stoppin' art lovers and collectors in getting their hands on the fishy and crabby concoctions created by Japanese toy designer Mame Moyashi.
Mame Moyashi is a designer toy chowder consisting of the twisted brain sauces of three artists - Producer Clinton Kenny, Designer Chino Lam and Sculptor Seanjob. The trio will be exhibiting for the first time at STGCC 2016, and Red Dot Diva's Glam Bloggers Alliance geek bro, Ed from Toys-etc, managed to bait them for a quick Q&A.
--------------------------------
STGCC 2016: Spotlight on Mame Moyashi
toysetc: Mame Moyashi is a trio. How did you come up with the name and what does it mean?
MM: The full name should be Mame Moyashi Shacho. In Japanese, Mame Moyashi means Little Beans and for anyone who watches enough anime, Shacho is the respectful term for Chairman. It might seem like it came from the idea of how small we are as a company but we produce toys that are big in the wow factor, but no, it's just for fun

Post-STGCC 2015: Videos! A Quick Roundup, Greeting From Adam Hughes and Talking Comics Panel!
Was STGCC 2015 a fun weekend for you?
Red Dot Diva had a great time with fellow geeks and friends, despite the haze and a severe bout of exhaustion due to lack of sleep. Also, the convention guests were stellar, especially Agnes Garbowska's, Adam Hughes' and Simone Legno's lines were never-ending, and both worked so hard to sign, chat and sketch for their fans.
Red Dot Diva and Toys-etc's Ed are rushing to head to Manila for AsiaPop Comicon Manila in a few hours. So, here's a post-STGCC round-up.... in video!

STGCC 2015: Camilla D'Errico Shares About Her Artistic Journey
Today was the first day of STGCC 2015 and boy, was it a busy day for the Glam Bloggers Alliance (GBA)!
One of the interview sessions GBA had was with Canadian surrealist artist Camilla D'Errico with a unique visual style. Camilla is also the creator of graphic novel "Tanpopo" (published by BOOM! Studios), a story about a mysterious girl who has no emotions and is set on a poetic quest for self-discovery.
Camilla first exhibited at STGCC 6 years ago in 2009, and it is great to see her back in the show, with more of her latest art for sale. At the interview, she was very upbeat about meeting the fans (both new and old) here at the convention, and it was interesting to see how much she has progressed in the last few years.
On a side note, Red Dot Diva's pal Ryan had asked Camilla to do a special commission of his son as a superhero, and this was her piece:
Don't you think it's just lovely?
GBA's Agent W rounds up this evening's interview with Camilla about her art journey:

AsiaPop Comic Con Manila 2015: David Mack, C.B. Cebulski, David Yardin, Leinil Yu and More Announced As Guests
With just 3.5 weeks to go, AsiaPop Comic Con Manila announces a long list of fantastic guests for the event that includes several comic book guests and a couple more toy designer guests!
Included in the list of guests announced in this round is one of Red Dot Diva's personal favourites, the multi-talented and very bicepstuous David Mack, creator of the Kabuki series and writer/ artist of Marvel's "Daredevil" and "Daredevil: End of Days".
David has also written a children's book called "Shy Creatures". But the most mesmerizing part of having DMack in a convention show is when he whips out his brushes, paper and ink, and starts drawing live. Biceps flexes included.
Don't believe Red Dot Diva about the biceps? Just view this interview video of DMack and "Fight Club" creator Chuck Palaniuk with CBR.

STGCC 2014: Get To Know Argyle Master and Toy Designer Scott Tolleson
The countdown to STGCC 2014 continues! It's now only 7 days away!
One of the special guests who will be in town meeting fans at the convention will be popular toy designer Scott Tolleson. For awhile there, Scott's guest appearance was kept under wraps by the convention's organizers. Although, it was the best-kept secret ever.
Thanks to Scott, who had been teaser-posting his STGCC exclusives on Twitter/ Instagram, eagle-eyed fans already had an inkling that he was heading to the Red Dot Island. It was only some weeks later that STGCC finally officially announced him as one of the convention guests. (Check out the previous blurbs on Scott Tolleson here.)
The grizzly-bicepstuous Scott Tolleson has designed collector toys that range from the cute to the sexy to the weird and monstrous. Red Dot Diva has fallen in love with Kookie No Cute, which Scott will be releasing at STGCC. *grabby hands* Must have!!

After the announcement of 12 guests for this year's STGCC, there were some MORE who will be here at the pop-culture convention of the year at MBS' Convention Centre on 6-7 September.
One of them is well-known toy designer Scott Tolleson. Scott Tolleson had already been teasing his fans on Twitter and Instagram with pics of his reveals in the Red Dot Island, including the adorable “Kookie No Good”. The news of his guest appearance was finally confirmed with an official press release from Reed/ STGCC recently. WOOHOOO! STGCC 2013: Untie Those Pursestrings and Grab Some COOL Goodies!
STGCC officially opens its door at 10 am tomorrow! Exhibitors and guests are already prettifying their booths at the convention centre at this moment.
There is just soooooo many wondrous things to buy at this year's convention that Red Dot Diva feels very very $orry for your bank account.
She knows you would already be quite familiar with the exclusives from the regular exhibitors, like Hot Toys, Tokidoki, and such. In addition, on her various articles leading up to this weekend (scroll down her blog archive on the left for the links), Red Dot Diva has also highlighted sketchbooks, figurines and art prints that will be available at their respective Artist Alley booths. One thing for sure, the local and regional creators have sure upped their game this year!
And still, there are a few MORE cool stuff that she thinks are worth loo$ening up your pur$e $tring$ for. Ready to break open your ATM / credit card/ hard cash/ sell a kidney?

STGCC 2013: A Quick Fire Round with Angry Woebots (Toysetc Exclusive!)
In a second Article "KOPE", Red Dot Diva brings you Toysetc's quickie Q&A with Aaron Martin aka AngryWoebots!
Just look at all those very pek-chek pandas! Grrrrrrr....
Is Aaron as angry as his iconic pandas? Read on and find out!
-----------------------------
It isn't the first time that ANGRYWOEBOTS has created havoc in sunny old Singapore [EVIDENCE 1][EVIDENCE 2] but it's certainly a first for him, J*RYU and LUKE CHUEH to be caught together at our only toy convention. God knows what kind of mayhem we're going to witness (ACTUALLY WE DO) from the ArmyofSnipers collective, but before the whirlwind hits this weekend, I get to ask a sober and sane Aaron questions.

Go Visit Honnie's Hive! - Mashi's Mini Art Show On December 14th 2012
In the last couple of years that Red Dot Diva got to know Mashi aka Wendy Chew, she has seen the local chibi artist and illustrator's fandom increase from strength to strength.
Her sexy-cute artwork now exhibits a growing sense of mischievous confidence and during the recent STGCC, she knew of many collectors who sought her out at the Invasion / 8-Bit Media booth for sketches. Mashi also had her own signing schedule at the Wall of Fame, which says a lot for the profile of a local artist.
Not contented with just drawings, Mashi had also showcased a sample of her very first vinyl toy produced by Vinyl-on-Vinyl at STGCC 2012. If you were at STGCC that weekend, you might probably have been one of those who fell in love with the cute voluptuous bee-lady called Honnie (see pic above).
