Talk about toys which help to stimulate creativity and innovation, and internationally popular construction sets company LEGO® comes to mind.
To spur builders to think and conceive ideas differently, the first LEGO® Certified Store in Red Dot Island will be displaying a one-of-a-kind multi-dimensional scultpure called "The Shapes of Imagination" - just for this weekend only!
Commissioned by Ogilvy & Mather, the 50cm x 50cm model is built from 18, 406 LEGO® bricks. The builder is American scientist-artist John V. Muntean, who specializes in putting together "Magic Angle Sculptures". A "Magic Angle Sculpture" is essentially an abstract-looking object placed on a rod that does not seem to resemble anything until it is rotated. Then, voila! Magical shadows appear!
Red Dot Diva visited the Suntec LEGO® store just now, and there were already a few kids there who were totally enamoured by the strange looking model.
Even Red Dot Diva found it very fascinating to watch as the model (which looked like a floating stray section of a disintegrating space station) slowly revealed 3 recognizable shadow shapes after a few turns of a handle.
Check out the following transition videos to see what shapes are shown!
To view "The Shapes of Imagination" with your own eyes, head to:
Venue: LEGO® Certified Store, Suntec City, Tower 3, Level 3
Dates: 8th to 10th May 2015
Opening Hours: 1030 AM to 930 PM
Who knows, you might be inspired to build one of your own after admiring the display!
