SDCC 2011 tickets may have been sold out. But for the true-blue comic and less mainstream pop-culture fans, there are still many other options where one can get a convention fix.
Coming up in less than a month, is Emerald City Comicon held at the Washington State Convention Center in Seattle, WA on 4th to 6th March, 2011.
Red Dot Diva notes that the convention has some very cool celebrity guests like "Star Trek" veteran William Shatner, and well-loved convention guest James Marsters ("Buffy", "Angel", "Torchwood", "Smallville", "Caprica") and "Fringe"/ LOTR actor John Noble. Other actors are fan favourites Felicia Day, Wil Wheaton, Jonathan Frakes, Nicholas Brendon amongst some many others.
Of course, there is also a slew of popular comic guests Brian Michael Bendis, Ivan Brandon, Ed Brubaker, Steve Epting, Matt Fraction, C.B. Cebulski, Michael Avon Oeming, Rick Remender and many, many more!!!
Tickets to Emerald City Comicon are still available here! The price is super affordable at USD 35 for a 3-day pass!
If one is a James Marsters fan, there's a special treat on the Saturday night! James will be performing a solo show at the Hard Rock Cafe, Seattle! One can purchase tickets to James' show at Ticketweb.
Having met James twice before, Red Dot Diva can attest that he is a lovely lovely guy. So, if you can head to Emerald City Comicon, don't miss the chance to go say hi to him!
Another option for those living in the East Coast of USA is the New York Comic Con. NYCC tickets went on sale at 12 noon time EST, 7th February 2011.
Red Dot Diva heard murmurs that the server went into "over-capacity" at the start of registration, with many fans going into a panicked mode to get tickets as early as possible.
This really wasn't really necessary though. A few hours later, when things calmed down, there was no problem purchasing tickets from the website at all.
The fact that 4-day passes (USD 85) are still available indicates that those who are still trying to save up or decide, have some more time to do so.
Red Dot Diva would like to warn the general public that she has secured a 4-day pass for NYCC. She is not sure what mischief she will get up to if she actually gets to NYC. Especially since, she will be there with friend @eserei27.
But not to worry, one will get to hear about the mischief made when the time comes!
