Todd Stashwick - Springing Into Devil Inside's Next Chapter

It has been about a year since the free web-comic "Devil Inside" was launched at SDCC 2010 by the very handsome, very bromance-y team consisting of actor Todd Stashwick and artist Dennis Calero.

Red Dot Diva remembers visiting the duo at their booth at Artists' Alley in 2010, and was deviously hooked by the first couple of panels and the concept of the web-comic.

Released every Wednesday, "Devil Inside" faithfully took the readers through many twists and turns about a chief demon's journey to find himself on Earth. Starting from a place called Paradise Valley.

With its sometimes macabre visuals, mysterious characters (who can ever forget snarky Raven Corvus?) and cryptic hints, "Devil Inside" Chapter 1 has been a helluva ride!

Red Dot Diva still thinks it is a pity that Syfy's "Battlestar Galactica" spin-off drama "Caprica" did not have the chance to go on for another season.

True, the short-lived series wasn't a full-on deep-in-space scifi show like the reimagined "Battlestar Galactica" with dogfights or had several buff characters who were easy to love. And admittedly, "Caprica"- which was set 58 years before the "Battlestar Galactica" timeline - was slow in its storytelling.

But Red Dot Diva stands by her opinion, that many of the characters in "Caprica" were complex and layered (especially Daniel Graystone), and the series actually offered many intelligent, mind-provoking questions about life and what it means. The production values for the series were mind-blowing, and despite its flaws, "Caprica" was actually a solid prequel to what was to happen later in the cherished BSG series.

One of the breakout actors in "Caprica" whom most fans could not help noticing was the tall, exotic-ly handsome Sasha Roiz. His appearance on screen as the Taurean homosexual mobster, Sam Adama, was an unforgettable package of slinky tattooed fierceness.

Harvey Tolibao and Stephen Segovia Contributes To GnB Comics' Charity Auction

Even though it has been several months since the devastating earthquake and tsunami hit Japan earlier this year, Red Dot Diva reminds everyone there is still more to be done for the people who are in need there.

GnB comics, a main local stronghold of Western comics geek-culture, held a charity drive previously with 50% of sales proceeds going as donations to the Red Cross. (Read the earlier blog article here.)

They are continuing the charitable efforts with help from Marvel comic artists Harvey Tolibao and Stephen Segovia, who have both generously donated their original artworks for a special auction.

Harvey has decided to donate his intriguing version of Green Lantern and Stephen has offered his cover to the variant of Vampirella issue #5.

Comic Art Show 2011 - Day 2 For Geeks

Sundays are definitely lazy days.

Red Dot Diva suspected that there were probably many tipsy geeks nursing a gaming hangover last Sunday. Or maybe they were pious geeks who went to religious services in search of their souls. Or it could just be that a bunch of them got haplessly sucked into The Wormhole of Family Commitments.

'Coz from what Red Dot Diva heard, it was pretty quiet on Day 2 of Comic Art Show 2011.

But the real reason could just very well be that Red Dot Diva and her glittery aura wasn't there to help entice unsuspecting folks. She was busy that morning too -- catching up on her beauty sleep.

SDCC 2011: The Last "Chuck" Panel

The announcement that Season 5 will be the last one for TV series "Chuck" was already made some months back. This piece of information made the panel at SDCC 2011 especially bitter-sweet for the fans, co-creator Chris Fedak and the cast members.

For without the small bunch of fans who believed in "Chuck" right from the start, the TV series might not have even lasted for five seasons.

The special thing about "Chuck" was the relationship the cast members had with their fans. Lead actor Zachary Levi is not only a star on the show, he is also an A-star with the fans as he constantly interacted with them on Facebook and Twitter. Plus he's an absolute handsome hunk of adorkable friendliness if one were to meet him person.

And of course, Yvonne Strahovski is such a beautiful sweetheart that she melts both the hearts of men and women. Not forgetting, Joshua Gomez's funny antics and tweets, and all the other cast members on the show who seem to have their own little fanbase. Jeffster, anyone?

D, a fellow "Chuck" fan and Twitter friend, was at the SDCC panel this year and she sent this report with some info and spoilers about the last season. She also managed to squeeze some time out with Vik Sahay and Mark C Lawrence.

Comic Art Show 2011 - Day 1 Was Buzzing!

Set in the arty part of the Bras Basah-Selegie area, Wilkie Edge was a nice quiet spot to host an indie-styled Comic Art Show.

Red Dot Diva strolled in about 2 pm and immediately spotted a couple of familiar faces. To her surprise, several art pieces were already sold, leaving empty spaces on the exhibition wall! And a few more which were still on the wall, were already tagged with orange "SOLD" stickers. Wow.

This was just 4 hours into the opening of the exhibition. A great start to a local show focused on comic art!

Brea Grant In Indie Movie "Homecoming"

Red Dot Diva is sometimes terribly envious of those living in LA. For she loves most things indie and Lala-land is usually almost where "stuff happens".

She usually has to settle with living vicariously through various good friends who are able to experience these events first-hand.

Just this Monday 25 July, an indie movie entitled "Homecoming" was screened at the Downtown Independent in LA, as part of a monthly event by Film Courage.

The heartwarming movie, starring actress-comic creator, Brea Grant ("Heroes" and in the next season of "Dexter"), John Robinson, Tom Fox-Davies, Sean Hackett and Colleen Camp, has already won some awards in film festivals around the USA, including US/ International Best Narrative Film at the 2011 AMC Theatres Kansas City FilmFest. The tale about friendship and family was written and directed by Sean Hackett.
