Avatar: The Way Of Water Experiences at Changi Airport T3 and Jewel Changi

James Cameron's long awaited Avatar sequel opened in theatres last week, and the movie has been raking lots of moolah at the international box office. With a US box office opening weekend taking of USD 134 million, AVATAR: THE WAY OF WATER even topped his first AVATAR movie, the which world's highest-grossing movie of all time, as well as 2022's box office champ TOP GUN: MAVERICK. Not that anyone is remotely surprised by all this.

AVATAR: THE WAY OF WATER has a bladder-busting running time of 3 hours and 12 minutes, but that did not stop fans from flocking to the theatres to immersed themselves into another adventure in Pandora.

To bring the world of Pandora to life, Changi Airport Terminal 3 and Jewel Changi have a few amazing experiences for movie fans to enjoy.

TERMINAL 3 - Marui Pod Experience

Be part of the ocean dwelling Metakayina Clan as you step inside their Marui Pod home. The beautiful, rustic-looking installation is located just outside the Departure Hall at Terminal T3 from now to January 2, 2023.

From 11 AM to 7 PM, you can book for a photo opportunity via the iChangi app at the cost of SGD 5.00, and take home a photo print with you. Alternatively, spend a minimum of SGD 50 (SGD 80 for supermarkets and Jewel) in a single same-day receipt from any participating Retail or F&B outlet at Changi Airport Terminals 1, 2, 3 and 4 public areas, and Jewel Changi. After 7 PM, you can wander inside the structure for free. Check out the photo that Red Dot Diva took inside the Marui Pod!

Red Dot Diva offers this tip for those who want to visit the Marui Pod. Grab a 6 PM or 6:30 PM photo-taking timeslot, and then stay for the light show at 7:30 PM! If you have some time in between you can visit the retail popup selling AVATAR movie merchandise like action figures and glow in the dark t-shirts. The store is just a few metres away from the Marui Pod, and has standees of water-dwelling creatures like the Tuldun space whale which are great for selfies too.

Or, at a minimal spend, you can partake in some family adventures at Mangrove Adventures. There are two booths there - Mangrove Hero, which is great for those aspiring to be archers, or Jellyfish Craft Workshop, where you can make and take home your own illuminated Mangrove Jellyfish.

Then, head back to the Marui Pod and get ready for the short but dramatic light and sound show that starts at 7:30 PM. If you missed this timeslot, there is another one at 8:30 PM. There are extra performances at 9:30 PM on Fridays to Sundays.

JEWEL CHANGI - Christmas Odyssea and Avatar-Inspired Light Show

The AVATAR: THE WAY OF WATER'S ocean theme continues at Jewel Changi with a festive highlight entitled Christmas Odyssea (now till 2 January 2023).

Over here, you can take an imaginary dive down cool waters to enjoy a dazzling 16m Christmas tree at the entrance of Shiseido Forest Valley. The super tall tree, sponsored by insurance company Prudential Singapore, takes on an underwater aesthetic with starfish baubles and coral structures. Red Dot Diva cannot help but hum “under the sea, under the sea... ”. Oh wait. Oops. Wrong movie? Haha.

The iconic 40m tall HSBC Rain Vortex is mesmerising to watch, but it dazzles even more during the light and sound show. The performance inspired by AVATAR: THE WAY OF WATER is at 8:30 PM and 10:30 PM daily, and features the movie's sea creatures such as the Ilu and Tulkun. The Christmas light show starts at 7:30 PM and 9:30 PM.

Compared to other venues like Tanglin Mall, the snowfall at Shiseido Forest Valley is more like a quick flurry. However, because of the lush greenery and gorgeous festive light up, the hourly snowfalls starting from 7:35 PM to 10:35 PM, is still a magical experience that makes you feel like a kid again.

For an extra boost of AVATAR: THE WAY OF WATER feels, head up to the Jewel's Canopy Park. Red Dot Diva did not have time to visit the topmost level, where the park has been decorated with bioluminescent light displays and glow-in-the-dark corals. There are also interactive sea creatures to play with, and a cave tunnel with underwater-like light projections. Entrance to the Canopy Park is not free, so visit Jewel Changi's website to purchase your tickets and book for your activity time slots at the various attractions in there.

Red Dot Diva is pretty sure that by the time you experienced all of these, you will be transformed into an honorary Na'vi!
