Sigh. Remember the pre-Covid-19 pandemic days??
Those were the days when local Star Wars fans here would gather physically to celebrate May the 4th Star Wars Day by interacting with costumers and cosplayers, ogling at wondrous toy collections, learning how to fight with a lightsaber, or simply enjoying each other's geeky company.
Earlier in March 2020, the organisers of May the 4th SG had wisely announced that due to safety reasons, there will not be a public event held this year. Then, Circuit Breaker happened, and no gatherings were allowed by law anyway.
However, it will be the school holidays next week, and the younglings will be off from HBL sessions. So, parents and their children can take part in a May the 4th celebration online with our favourite lightsaber performance and costume group, Fightsaber SG!
The list of activities has not been revealed yet, but keep an eye out on Fightsaber SG's social media platforms for their upcoming announcements:

Other than that, it is still possible to make May the 4th special with your family and friends, either through video conferencing like Zoom or Google Meet, or via a video chat program like Whatsapp or Facebook Messenger.
Red Dot Diva offers some ideas:
* Dress yourself up in Star Wars gear and host a movie viewing party online with your crew.
* Have a mini Star Wars costume competition by using household gear and then sharing photos for someone to judge and choose a winner.
* Cook up a Star Wars themed meal, or bake some Star Wars cookies and share them with your neighbours (by leaving those at their front doors!)
* Hold a Star Wars trivia game online. Using the app called kahoot is a great way to engage each other, and have the quiz points automatically calculated and shared.
* Get crafty by building a Star Wars Lego model, or make a sock puppet. Red Dot Diva loves the “Let's Make Star Wars” playlist Youtube videos posted in Star Wars Kids. They are so creative and easy to follow!
* Join in the 2-day Virtual Star Wars May the Fourth celebration hosted by ReedPop with live tweets of movie screenings, comic book discussions and Q&A with celebrities like Ashley Eckstein. Here is ReedPop's promo video about the event:
Despite the need to social distance and keep your fellow Star Wars family and friend safe, how will you be celebrating May the 4th this year?
If you have a great idea, feel free to share it with Red Dot Diva and her readers!
