For starters, there's Emmy Award-winning actor James Spader, who is superb in the main role of Red "Reddington", the manipulative resident baddie with a well-mannered, cultured demeanor but mysterious background.
Parading around in his trademark fedora and black trench coat, and enunciating his lines in clipped tones that more often than not are dripping with sarcasm, one simply cannot keep one's eyes off him on screen! James Spader makes egoistical and scheming Red's almost Hannibal-Clarisse-like relationship with FBI agent rookie profiler Elizabeth Keen (Megan Boone) seem creepy but believable.
Secondly, the show is full of characters that have intriguing backgrounds and nefarious motives. In Season 1, every episode was based on a target with an over-the-top codename like "The Stewmaker" or "The Pavlovich Brothers". Each target on Red's list provided clues to the intricate web that he had been weaving, and continues to weave.
There were more twists and kinks than one could count, making the series such a watchable guilty-pleasure. Red Dot Diva got seriously hooked to it after the first couple of episodes of Season 1!
Now, criminal mastermind Red will be back to set more ruses in motion, even as he continues to assists the FBI as an informant. The premiere of "The Blacklist" Season 2 will air on AXN Asia, September 23 at 10 PM, on the same day of the US telecast.
See if you can Spot Red! |
Lookalikes of Red will be making surprise appearances around Red Dot Island's busiest locations, including Orchard Road, Raffles Place, Tanjong Pagar, Tampines, Jurong East and City Hall for encounters and photos with fans from 18 – 30 September.
Eagle-eyed viewers who spot Red around town should proceed with caution. He was on the list of FBI's Most Wanted Criminals after all! But do attempt to take a picture or selfie with Red, and share the photos with the hashtag #AXNBlacklist to Facebook, Twitter and Instagram on the spot. You might receive a limited edition AXN reward from Red's gang.
A bunch of unsuspecting folks have already bumped into Red while he was making his way around the island since 18 September. If one is interested to hunt Red down, turn on your Red-detector devices and hone in on him at these locations on the following dates:
Last season of "The Blacklist" ended with Red's nemesis Berlin (Peter Stormare Fargo) narrowly escaping his grasp. There is also the continuing mystery about the relationship between Red and Liz as well as the fate of Liz's husband, Tom Keen (Ryan Eggold). More answers of these questions may be unravelled in Season 2. The cast will also be joined by Mary-Louise Parker as Naomi Highland, a character with links to Red and who is hiding a dark secret from her husband.
Oooo. It seems that viewers may get some more insights on Red's history in the new season! Red Dot Diva can't wait!
Yes Red, Red Dot Diva does! Terribly! |
Watch Red say with a smirk: "I'm confident everyday."
