"War Of The Worlds: Goliath" Now Steampunking Its Way To Viewers

Long awaited indie animated movie "War of the Worlds: Goliath" is now readily available for its viewers in the theatres and in other formats.

The 2D/ 3D futuristic action adventure - a joint collaborative venture between Malaysian set-up Tripod Entertainment and American creators like director Joe Pearson (Epoch Ink), Executive Producer Kevin Eastman (CEO, Heavy Metal) and writer David Abramowitz (head creator of the "Highlander" series) - has been several years in the making. The story, which is loosely based on the world created by H. G. Wells, also features many familiar talents voicing its characters, for example - Peter Wingfield (Highlander/ Caprica/ Sanctuary), Adrian Paul (Highlander), Adam Baldwin (Chuck/ Firefly), Mark Sheppard (Supernatural/ Leverage/ BSG) and Elizabeth Gracen (Highlander).

Ever since it's inception around mid-2000's or so, geeks and fans who knew about the project have been eagerly waiting to view the finished product in the cinemas and in digital formats.

At SDCC 2012, Red Dot Diva and several other supporters of the project, were lucky enough to attend a very special 3D screening of the movie held at the Reading Cinemas. Considering the budget and other constraints that they faced, "War of the Worlds: Goliath" was an earnest project with a nice mix of East (yeah! South-East Asia, represent!) and West, plus sci-fi and steampunk. It had its enjoyable and energetically artistic moments - especially the concept art and its alternate universe. Even if, it was sometimes a little too loud and the pacing, inconsistent. At its core though, it was clear it was made for fans of the genre.

The animated feature is set 15 years after the H.G. Well's original "War of the Worlds". Earth's survivors have joined forces to form a multinational defense force called A.R.E.S. and using capture Martian technology, have managed to build gigantic steam-powered Tripod machines. As expected, the Martians do return with even more advanced tech as they attempt to invade Earth again. But Earth is more battle ready this time round, as a crew of brave warriors fight to protect Mankind from these alien forces.

To see the movie finally showing at USA theatres a couple of weeks ago, plus its release on DVD, Blu-Ray, iTunes and VOD was heartening. It was a testament to commitment, passion and a belief to possibilities. Congratulations, everyone!

Back in 2012, Red Dot Diva was honoured to be able to meet and hang out with the creators of "War of the Worlds: Goliath" when they were stationed at the Heavy Metal booth. After all, Kevin Eastman (creator of "Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles") was also Executive Producer of the movie. At that time, fan interest in the feature film was already pretty high.

She later also got to know director Joe Pearson and his lovely wife Lisa a little more, when she hung out with them at Venice Beach last year, just before heading to SDCC 2013. That's when she scored this "War of the Worlds: Goliath" signed poster from Joe. ;)

If you are an indie creator or fan of genre movies, or just simply a person who likes to try out new things, do give "War of the Worlds: Goliath" a chance. And if you do go to the theatres, Red Dot Diva says to watch the movie in 3D -- it looks and feels a lot better in that format!
