As announced earlier this year, Singapore Comic Con (SGCC) will be back with a physical event this year at Sands Convention Centre on 10 and 11 December 2022! Local and regional geeks are already familiar with the Red Dot Island's largest pop-culture event of the year. Ever since online ticketing was open, they have been eyeing guests announcements like a hawk.
Generation Experience, the convention's organiser, is keen to lure “casual fans” to the geek party as well. So, to give the general public as well as geeks a sneak peek of what SGCC is like, there will be a Prelude Event held at City Square Mall this weekend (8 and 9 October 2022), from 11 AM to 8 PM.
To kick-off the day, P4L* ("pop culture 4 Life!") the Official Mascot of SGCC, will be making its appearance for the first time ever! The mascot was designed by designer toys and art collectibles studio Mighty Jaxx.
Then, stay and enjoy the exciting activities and guest appearances lined up for the event. Here are some of the cool stuff you can look out for:
* Meet Cosplayers from Impact Fantasy - Diane Sabandeja & Lia Bear
Both Diane Sabandeja and Lia Bear are from the Philippines. Diane is also a Gaming Ambassador, model/actress and Streamer, while Lia Bear has been cosplaying for 8 years and going.
* Interact With FightSaber Singapore & Kranak Clan
Step into the galaxy far far away as members of FightSaber Singapore and the Kranak Clan - Mando Mercs Singapore wander around the event as Jedis, Siths and Mandalorians. You can take a photo with them during the meet and greet sessions at 1 PM and 3 PM on both days!
* Learn to play Dungeons & Dragons with Gamersaurus Rex
Always wanted to learn how to play Dungeons & Dragons (D&D) but have no idea how to get started? Come down to the prelude event and head to Gamersaurus Rex's booth. Gamersaurus Rex will be D&D sessions and they are free to join. If you already have your D&D group of 4, you can also kickstart your own game. No prior sign-ups required!
* Paint Your Own Space Marine Miniature with Gamersaurus Rex

* Take Selfies At The Transformers Wall
Calling all Transformers fans! You can get a first look at the art from Nickelodeon's animated series Transformers: EarthSpark that will premiere in November 2022. Snap a selfie at the photo wall, post it on your Instagram, and tag it with the following @sgcomiccon, @Nick_Asia, @citysquaremall, #SGCCxCSM #SGCC #EarthSpark. Show your post to the staff at the event ticketing info counter, and you stand to take home a limited edition collectible pin. These pins are limited to the first 50 per day, and only 1 redemption per person per Instagram post.
* Meet Artist Alley Creators
SGCC's Artist Alley is filled with independent artists who are offer creative works like artwork, craftwork, indie comics, apparel, merchandise and more. Meet 14 of these wonderful artists including BunnyAndYarn, Bobblejot and Monster Little at the Prelude event and buy something for yourself, and your friends and family!
* Check Out The New Products At The Exhibitor Showcase
52Toys, Bandai (Gundam) and OSIM will be displaying their new products at the Exhibitor showcase.
52Toys will be showing off the classic MECHA MICKEY MOUSE with mechanical joins and facial features. Each limited-edition toy has a unique serial number and a #NFC chip to verify its authenticity.
Rare Gundam figures will be on display at Bandai's booth. Bandai will also be offering 2 exclusive Gundam robot figurines, only available at the Prelude event. If you are aiming to get your hands on these, get prepared for a long, long queue!
As for OSIM, they will be showcasing the latest limited edition collaboration with TRANSFORMERS x OSIM. The OSIM uThrone V has been pegged as the only gaming chair with built-in massaging capabilities. So, hardcore gamers -- this may be the chair you need for all your aches and pains!
* Purchase Your SGCC Tickets On-Site
SGCC's tickets can be purchased at the Prelude Event too. You will be entitled to 1 spin on the Insta-Win Wheel, hosted by City Square Mall. The first 100 ticket buyers at the event will also be able to redeem an additional $10 City Developments Limited (CDL) voucher from the event ticketing info counter at L1 Atrium.
