Happy International Women's Day!
To celebrate this occasion, Warner TV Asia is showcasing kick-ass female superheroes and heroines whose personal journeys aim to empower women all over the world.
WOMEN OF WONDER MOVIE SPECIALS
For the month of March, Warner TV Asia is running a WOMEN OF WONDER movie special every Sunday night at 9 PM. Each movie selected shines the spotlight on the beauty and strength of feminine power.
Kicking off on 8 March, on International Women's Day itself, is the scintillating hit movie “WONDER WOMAN”. As Diana Prince (Gal Gadot), the Amazon Princess from Themyscira leaps into our screens with optimism and her unique brand of fierceness. Her adventures takes her from London to the horrifying World War I battlefield in Belgium, in a bid to save humanity and stop the god Ares from creating more chaos.
The other movies on the list are rather odd, to be honest. They are “300: RISE OF AN EMPIRE” (there are the badass Queen Gorgo and enigmatic Artemesia though), “CATWOMAN” (sadly, not a great movie despite the famous character) and “MAN OF STEEL”. Yes, the last movie is about Superman, but in Red Dot Diva's opinion, one of the best parts of the film was a Lois Lane, who was intelligent, proactive and who actually did some actual investigating as a journalist.
To enjoy these movies in March, tune into Warner TV on Starhub Channel 515 and Singtel Channel 306.
That's not all. For weekly boosts of feminine power, so that you can get pepped up to deal with the challenges of being female, check out these TV series with engaging, relatable DC female superheoes.
BATWOMAN
As TV's first lesbian superhero, Kate Kane aka Batwoman (Ruby Rose) battles her own demons and family drama. This includes constantly going head to head with a nemesis called Alice, who is actually her twin sister turned evil. Batwoman also has access to the Batcave and all those awesome Batman-related gear and tech that help her with taking down the bad guys.
Watch “BATWOMAN” on Demand via Warner TV Encore with Singtel TV Channel 306 and Starhub Channel 500!
DC'S LEGENDS OF TOMORROW
She was tragically killed and then resurrected via the Lazarus Pit. Her name is Sarah Lance, and her martial arts prowess is legendary. In Season 2, Sarah on took on the mantle as captain of the Waverider, and she continues to lead the motley crew of Legends on various time travelling missions.
“DC's LEGENDS OF TOMORROW” airs on Warner TV Asia very Wednesdays at 9:50 PM.
SUPERGIRL
Kara Danvers (Melissa Benoist) is not just the cousin of Superman. She is a powerful superhero in her own right. What makes her even more special are her warm, caring nature, and her capability to give her all for the name of hope and equality. One of the most interesting aspects of the “SUPERGIRL” series is the focus on sisterhood, and the intricacies of relationships and friendships between women. This is a rare superhero series that helps define and puts a voice to how girls and women feel in their struggles in daily life.
Tune in to Warner TV Asia every Monday at 9:50 AM for new episodes of “SUPERGIRL”.
By the way, congratulations to Melissa Benoist and co-star hubby Chris Wood for their pregnancy! A super baby is on its way!
