Warner Asia TV has brought in three series from the DC Universe back to the region's schedule, so it is time for fans to immerse themselves in their adventures in the new season.
Note: There are some spoilers, so tread with caution!
SUPERGIRL
From the House of El, Kara Zor-El aka “SUPERGIRL” returned with a new season last Monday.
In this 5th season of the superhero TV series, Supergirl (Melissa Benoit) faces challenges at work when a new owner takes over Catco, and a mystery shapeshifter villain with a bone to pick with J'onn J'onzz (David Harewood) drops in from the Phantom Zone - and she does it all in a brand new and sleek costume with pants! PANTS!
Kara has also personal issues to resolve with best friend, Lena Luthor (Katie McGrath), who found out about Supergirl's true identity in the last season's finale. Will their friendship be able to survive this broken trust?
Watch new episodes of “SUPERGIRL” every Monday at 9:50 PM (SG/ MY/ PH), 8:50 PM (JKT).
THE FLASH
After their daughter Nora was erased from their timeline, it has not been an easy summer for the Barry (Grant Gustin) and Iris (Candice Patton). Barry immersed himself into nabbing more villains at a faster rate than ever, while Iris quietly mourned and missed her daughter by trying to salvage her purple jacket from the junkyard.
Meanwhile, a new big bad is in town. He's in the form of research oncologist Ramsey Rosso (also known as Bloodwork by comic book fans) who has past ties with Caitlin (Danielle Panabaker). Rosso is played by the dashing Sendhil Ramamurthy (“Heroes”, “Covert Affairs”, “Beauty and the Beast”), complete with a delicious British accent.
Unfortunately, a blood monster is not the only trouble that The Flash has to face this season. The Monitor has arrived to give Barry and Iris the bad news of an impending crisis where the only way out was that Barry would have to die.
See how Barry and Team Flash get out of this double whammy by watching new episodes every Wednesday at 9:50 PM (SG/ MY/ PH), 8:50 PM (JKT).
ARROW
The final season of “ARROW” (sob!) will premiere the same day as the U.S. telecast on October 16, Wednesday, 9 PM (SG/MY/PH) ; 8 PM (JKT). This will also be the season without Felicity Smoak (Emily Bett Rickards), as her character has exited the show by walking through a portal with The Monitor in last season's finale.
This is a truncated season with only 10 episodes. With the help of close friend Diggle (David Ramsey), and the rest of the team - Laurel Lance (Katie Cassidy), Rene Ramirez (Rick Gonazalez), Dinah Drake (Juliana Harkavy) and Curtis Holt (Echo Kellum), vigilante superhero The Arrow aka Oliver Queen (Stephen Amell) will be racing to complete his missions after a visit by The Monitor, warning him about an impending crisis that will rack multiple timelines and universes.
Expect to see some other characters return in the final run, like Malcom Merlyn (John Barrowman), Thea Queen (Willa Holland) and Adrian Chase (Josh Segarra).
Don't miss seeing how the story will end, as Oliver Queen bows out of Arrowverse after taking fans on a rollercoaster 7-year journey.
CRISIS ON INFINITE EARTHS
Crisis on Infinite Earths section
“CRISIS ON INFINITE EARTHS” is the biggest crossover event of the DC Universe this year, inevitably drawing the fates of several superheroes as they battle to save the different Earths from destruction.
An alien called The Monitor (LaMonica Garett) has already warned Arrow and the Flash about the impending doom which will happen on December 10th, 2019.
The five-hour crossover event will run in two parts, with three episodes in December 2019, and 2 episodes on 2020. The schedule (in USA time) is:
SUPERGIRL - Sunday, Dec 8, 8 PM
BATWOMAN - Monday, Dec 9, 8 PM
THE FLASH - Sunday, Dec 10, 8 PM
ARROW - Tuesday, Jan 14, 8 PM
DC's LEGENDS OF TOMORROW - Tuesday, Jan 14, 9 PM
As the event takes places over multiple universes, there has already been an announcement that “SMALLVILLE”'s Clark Kent/ Superman (Tom Welling) and Lois Lane (Erica Durance), 2006 movie Superman (Brandon Routh) as well as the Man of Steel and Lois from the current “SUPERGIRL” time line- Tyler Hoechlin and Elizabeth Tulloch. Jon Cryer will also make an appearance as Lex Luthor.
Characters from “BLACK LIGHTNING”, The Huntress (Ashley Scott) from previously cancelled “BIRDS OF PREY”, and Jonah Hex (Johnathon Schaech) will join the fray together with Bruce Wayne, played by fan favourite Batman voice actor Kevin Conroy. This will be the first time Kevin Conroy will be making a live action appearance as Bruce Wayne!
As in many other TV shows aired in the USA, it's still not certain if viewers in this region will ever get to watch “BATWOMAN” (most probably due to its LGBT content), so the “CRISIS ON INFINITE EARTHS” crossover event might be an incomplete one for the fans here. As for the new season of “DC's LEGENDS OF TOMORROW”, it is set to premiere in January 2020. Hopefully, the series will air on the same day as the U.S. too.
In any case, the widely anticipated multi-verse, with the gamut of characters from previous and current TV shows, is gearing up to be something very special and memorable.
