Are you one of those rooting for Leonardo diCaprio to finally get his Oscar this year? Or do you usually favour the dark horse of the list, like Bryan Cranston for his lead role in the autobiographical movie "Trumbo"?
Perhaps you aren't so bothered so much about the winners and losers but love to go googly-eyed on the fashion choices made by the celebrities as they walk down that long red carpet.
Celebrities, their guests and entourage are set to descend on Hollywood's glitziest awards event of the year - the 88th Academy Awards (or better known as the Oscars Awards) - tomorrow evening at 28 February U.S.A. time. Comedian Chris Rock is the host for the ceremonies. With the controversy about the lack of diversity plaguing this year's Oscars, Red Dot Diva is most curious to see how many more folks Chris Rock will insult while he's on stage.
If you have already taken leave from work and planned for a Monday morning Oscars watching party, HBO Asia will be bringing to you the award show LIVE from the Dolby Theatre® at Hollywood & Highland Center® in Hollywood.
Just tune into their cable channel on Starhub at the following times:
- Red Carpet arrivals - 8 AM (repeat telecast 7 PM)
- Award show - 9:30 AM (repeat telecast 8 PM)
However, for those who sadly, have to report to their day job so that they won't be "eating grass", Red Dot Diva says it is still possible to catch up and take sneak peaks at the Oscars going-ons online! The show is also being streamed live via HBO on StarHub Go. Woo-Woooot!
Taiwanese-American host, the lovely Janet Hsieh, will be reporting live from the red carpet as well, with web exclusive interviews and footage being aired on HBO Asia's microsite - www.hboasia.com/oscars.
Keep checking out HBO Asia's Facebook, Twitter and Instagram accounts for news and video clips too! Red Dot Diva thinks that how HBO Asia is running their web programming for the Oscars is fantastic. Using their social media clout to the fullest, the Oscars doesn't seem sooooo far away for those who are living in the future, like Red Dot Island-ers.
And if you want to get even closer to the stars, here's your chance. All you have to do is to watch the Oscars live tomorrow morning on the HBO Asia channel and answer the question that will be revealed during the telecast!
7 lucky winners will get round-trip air-tickets to Los Angeles, plus hotel stay paid for, *AND* get to walk down the red carpet in next year's Oscars!! Now, that's a special kind of fantasy trip that would make your friends totally green with envy.
In fact, 14 winners from last year's contest will be joining in the the Oscars 2016 red carpet ceremony. These lucky viewers from Singapore, Malaysia, Indonesia, Thailand, The Philippines, Taiwan and Hong Kong will be pampered and get the "star treatment" for the festivities. See if you can spot them from the HBO Asia live telecast!
For something fun and much closer to home, head down to Raffles City (outside Robinson's) today and catch The HBO Oscars® Mobile Showroom, from 11 AM to 7 PM today!
DJs Maddy Barber, Charmaine Yee and John Klass will be there hosting a mini event and giving the public a chance to win their own Oscars statuette as well as other wonderful exclusive Oscars goodies!
Incidentally, today is Red Dot Island's first Car-Free Sunday! The roads around the civic and parts of the Central Business District (CBD) are closed for motorised vehicles except for public transport, bikes and personal mobility devices. There is a host of activities set out for people to enjoy so why not drop by The HBO Oscars® Mobile Showroom as one of your stops?
Take a pic of the Oscars® statuette showcased at the pop-up mobile and if you want, share it with HBO Asia and Red Dot Diva on Twitter by tagging @hboasia and @reddotdiva. Red Dot Diva would love to see all the happy Oscars-loving faces.
Thanks to HBO Asia, Red Dot Diva already has her very own Oscar statuette (probably for winning Best Biceps-Loving Fan).
She hopes you will get your own Oscar too!
