This year, participating shops have been a little late in their respective announcements, plus there aren't any special overseas guests heading to Red Dot Island for the weekend. However, Red Dot Diva has a rundown of who's giving out what (other than FREE comics, of course!) this coming Saturday, 2 May.
One will also notice a strong Star Wars theme featured in this Saturday's activities. That is because the island will also be celebrating Star Wars Day, i.e. May the 4th slightly early over the weekend! (More on that later in a separate article!)
Comic book geekdom has been getting more and more mainstream, thanks to popularity of superhero movies and TV shows. Red Dot Diva has noticed that the number of people participating in FCBD has grown significantly with each passing year.
The free comics given out on FCBD are not unlimited in supply, so they do run out in some places quicker than one can imagine. Therefore, if one is intending to set aside Saturday especially for an island-wide FCBD fun-run, DO plan your schedule carefully!

KINOKUNIYA BOOKSTORES
As a bookshop chain, Kinokuniya adores their geeky buyers and privilege card members. :) The flagship store at Ngee Ann City is one of Red Dot Diva's favourite hangouts!
If you are a Kinokuniya privilege member, all of their four outlets will be handing out a set of free comics each, on a first-come, first-served basis. Do remember to bring your membership card along on Saturday to redeem the comics!

For those who are heading to the Ngee Ann branch, there are some important guidelines about the waiting line on Kinokuniya's website.
Special FCBD merchandise can also be purchased at the store, like Marvel Heroclix, Amanda Conner t-shirts and more. And if members purchase SGD$200 or more of comics on Saturday, Kinokuniya will be giving away very limited edition eco-friendly shopping tote featuring artwork from Amanda Conner.
The main store will also have a host of mainly Star Wars related activities starting from 1 May, Friday to 3 May, Sunday! This include the opportunity to meet local group The Saber Authority on how to customize your own lightsaber, as well as watch lightsaber duels performed by FightSaber Singapore.
The 501st Legion – Singapore Garrison will also be Stormtrooping the store on Saturday. This is a great chance to take photos with your favourite Star Wars characters! On Sunday, there's even something interesting called "Mr. K’s Photo Booth" where one can take home complimentary photo prints.

GnB COMICS
Well-known comic book store GnB Comics, located at Rochor Centre, will be giving out quite a few fantastic freebies this Saturday! FCBD celebrations at the store will run from 11 AM to 4 PM.
There will be two parties going on concurrently - a private, by-invitation only shindig held within the store, and one for the public which will take place outside. Don't worry.... folks in the public waiting line will still be able to nab a small number of free comics as well as get some freebies!

Atom Comics at the Cathay seem to be the only who have announced an FCBD artist guest so far. Creator of the local-styled "Supacross" comic, Jerry Hinds, will be on site doing sketches.
There is a shop sale on comics and toys, plus candy will be given away by their cosplayers.
