Singapore Date with Kevin Spacey for "Richard III"
Local theatre goers - heads up!
Red Dot Diva previously hinted that Kevin Spacey would be in Singapore later this year for The Bridge Project's final season - Shakespeare's "Richard III". (Check out her blog post here.)
This seems to be shaping up nicely with cast announcements for the play posted on website Broadway World.com just two weeks ago.
The play has also been plugged on Singapore Repertory Theatre's website, with dates listed as November 17-26, 2011.
Other than Hong Kong, Singapore is the only other Asian stop for the production.
As The Bridge Project is a combined collaboration between American and British production companies, there will be a mix of actors from both sides of the Atlantic.
Of course, the ever-gracious veteran actor, Kevin Spacey, will be heading the titular role of the cunning King Richard III.
Americans Maureen Anderman and Chandler Williams will play the Duchess of York and George, Duke of Clarence respectively, while British actors Haydn Gwynne will act as Queen Elizabeth; Chuk Iwuji as Buckingham and Gemma Jones as Queen Margaret.
For those pop-culture folks out there, Red Dot Diva divulges that Gemma Jones is known not only for her theatre work, she is also quite a familar face on TV and movies. "Harry Potter" movie fans will find her familiar as Hogwarts nurse Poppy Pomfrey and she will be also appearing in the movie "Hysteria" with Maggie Gyllenhaal and Hugh Dancy.
The full production list can be found at Broadway World.com.
"Richard III" will be a first-time reunion for director Sam Mendes and Kevin Spacey ever since the award-winning movie "American Beauty".
Red Dot Diva forsees that this will be a stellar theatre night out indeed.
So Don't Miss It!

Thanks to Jen for giving me a heads up on the cast announcements!
