Diva Meets Nicholas Buc, Conductor of "Star Wars: The Force Awakens" Concert (29 - 31 October 2017)

Nicholas Buc has a job that most Star Wars geeks might envy, especially if they love making music as well. A composer, arranger, conductor, violinist and pianist, Nicholas has managed to combine his love for film and music, and is one of the few conductors specializing in such live movie concerts. He also gets to travel around the world doing what he loves!

He has performed several such concerts around the world, like Harry Potter, Disney's Beauty and the Beast, Raiders of the Lost Ark, Star Trek and E.T. From 29 to 31 October at the Esplanade, the audience will get to see him conduct the first-ever Star Wars Symphony Orchestra Concert performed in Singapore

For this concert series, Episode VII - "The Force Awakens" (TFA) will be screened as over 70-musicians in the orchestra play the accompanying John Williams-composed soundtrack live. So, not only do Star Wars fans get to re-watch TFA again, Red Dot Diva bets all her credits that it will also be more unforgettable, communal experience.

Meet Disney's Latest Super-Nerds When "Big Hero 6" Opens on November 13!

The date of November 13 looms near, and it's a somewhat terrifying thought for Red Dot Diva.

Why? That's when Disney's animated movie "Big Hero 6" will be premiering in theatres island-wide, and Red Dot Diva is not sure if she can handle the extreme kawaii-ness of inflatable robotic nurse, Baymax! Ahhhhhhh!!

Just when she thought she was about to get over Dancing Baby Groot, here comes another cute huggable thing to coo over. *whimper* HELP!

The team behind "Frozen" and "Wreck-It-Ralph" returns - this time with Walt Disney Animation Studios' adaptation of a defunct Marvel comic with the same name.

Diva's Top 5 Favourite Versions of Disney's "Let It Go" From "Frozen"

Just about everyone knows how memorable Disney songs can be. Sung not only by the heroines in the animated movies, the tunes are regaled by villains, woodland creatures, enchanted pieces of household items and even bright-red crustaceans.

So it was no surprise that there was a hit song which emerged from Disney's latest hit movie, "Frozen".

The movie itself took a different turn from past Disney tales, focusing on the bonds of sisterhood and other feminist themes, rather than just a fairytale romance. However, as groundbreaking as some of the progressive plotlines were, Red Dot Diva thought "Frozen" had its flaws - like the lack of Elsa time and other than that one song in particular, she felt that the rest of the soundtrack was pretty forgettable.

That one song was Elsa's liberating theme song "Let It Go", belted out by Idina Menzel, who has won a Tony Award winner for her portrayal of Elphaba in "Wicked".

Little girls from all over the world (many of which had the chance to listen to the song sung in their own native language!) and women, took to the anthem like moths to a flame. Even many men (fathers of daughters, especially) fell prey to the song's strong musical hook and message.
