Poster art by Jia Lee
Looking for animated films that are more edgy and more adult? Then, head to Cartoons Underground, a festival consisting of alternative animation films which will be held at Kult Kafe on Mt Emily, on 22 October, from 6 PM.

Many movie and art fans might not be aware that the festival has actually been around for the past few years, and this year's show will be their fifth edition.

Cartoons Underground is also the jump-off point for many new animators in Asia as selected projects get to be screened during the event. The festival organizers receive film submissions with 487 applications from around the world, three times more than last year's! As a result, the festival director Tan Wei Keong has curated a total of 20 films listed in two programs called "Time Loop" and "Time Warp". Red Dot Diva imagines it must been be really tough for him to narrow the slew of interesting shorts to just 20!

Step Into The World of "The Little Prince" at The Fullerton Hotel in Singapore

The Little Prince at the Fullerton entrance
As part of Voila! French Festival that is currently underway, the organizers has placed the focus on a well-loved character "The Little Prince" from Antoine de Sainte-Exupéry's wonderfully-written and illustrated tale of the same name.

Red Dot Diva has heard of several people who say that "The Little Prince" is their favourite childhood story book. But she thinks that the story about the mysterious regal from Asteroid 325 is still relevant to an adult of any age.

Now, fans and new readers in Red Dot Island can venture into the world of "The Little Prince".

Singapore Zombie Walk Returns - This Time At The Cathay!

The local zombies of the Red Dot Island variant have sure taken their time to shuffle across from Clarke Quay to Handy Road.

It has taken them about a year. Just nice for The Singapore Zombie Walk 2013 held on October 26th - a few days before Halloween!

The undead are expected to gather at The Cathay (Handy Road) and Red Dot Diva thinks they have managed to infect more humans in the span of one year. Last year's zombie infestation stood at 131. Early warnings have put the number to be a high of 500 this year.

A wonderfully scary thought indeed.

VSIFF 2012: Not Short of the Good Stuff!

Funny how things something happen the way they do.

A stray invite for VSIFF 2012 (that is Very Short International Film Fest to the uninitiated) dropped into Red Dot Diva's colleague's email inbox one morning. And knowing that Red Dot Diva is quite the film buff, astute colleague promptly forwarded the invite and said, "This is something I know you'd like."

And that's how Red Dot Diva found herself at a comfy theatre in the Marina Bay/ Raffles Place area for the preview screening of VSIFF 2012 on 9 May. She didn't even know that such an auditorium existed in the financial district!

To give the invited guests a taste of the range of Very Short Films that were going to be screened on 12 and 13 May at Alliance Francaise Theatre, Selection A of both the International segment and Singapore segments were shown.
