Gamestart Asia 2018 - Elise Zhang, Overwatch Voice Actor Announced as Guest


Missing your favourite gaming convention in South-East Asia? Then, get ready to gather your friends together for Gamestart Asia!  The show is returning to Suntec City Convention Halls 401, 402 and 403 on 13 and 14 October 2018.

Just announced by the organizers today, Red Dot Diva is delighted to spread the word that The Walt Disney Company Southeast Asia will be exhibition at the convention for the first time! Look out for more news on how their involvement will be at this year's show.


This piece of news is going to get Overwatch fans excited. Chinese talent Elise Zhang, voice of Mei in both English and Mandarin versions of the game, will be a guest Gamestart Asia! She also voiced Symmetra in the Mandarin version of Overwatch. Other voice work she has done includes "Power Puff Girls", "We Bare Bears" and "Lego NEXO KNIGHTS".

The other usual content that Gamestart Asia is well known for, will also be featured at the show. These include tabletop gaming, previews of games, e-sports, indie and retro games, as well as cosplay! Check out some of the highlights below:


* Fans of Esports will be excited to know that SEA Major (SEAM) 2018 plays host to international tournaments again at the convention. SEAM is one of the largest fighting game tournaments in Asia. As for mobile games, these will be hosted by SEA Mobile Major (SEAMM).

* The ever-popular Doujin Market (curated in partnership with Neo Tokyo Project) also returns to Gamestart Asia for the third year with about 43 booths.

* Cosplay fans can prove their mettle at the GameStart Cosplay Runway Competition on 14 October. Head to this link to register!

* For the hungry/ hangry folks, chill out at the fantasy-themed Sanctuary, where you can find your favourite nom-noms, snacks, craft beer and more!

What's new at the convention then, you might ask? Well, GameStart Masterclasses will debut at this year's show, run by well-known creators and personalities from the international games industry. There will also be the GameStart Workshops (developed in collaboration with No Average Joe) a series of workshops and talks that cover a a range of general gaming-related topics. GameStart MasterClasses will be held on 10 and 12 October while GameStart Workshops will be held during the convention.

In Red Dot Diva's opinion, it seems there is a bit more variety and buzz on the showfloor compared to last year's show. She also expects there are going to be more exciting announcements in the coming weeks too! So, keep an eye on the show's website and Facebook page for more news.
