Gamestart Asia 2017 Version 4 Returns on 14 and 15 October 2017

Gamestart Asia, the 2-day convention aimed at gaming fans, will be returning to Suntec Convention Centre on 14 and 15 October 2017.

In version 4 of the premiere gaming convention, the event has taken up an even bigger space amounting to about 6,000 square metres, with two new sections - The Gamestart TableTop for all card/ board games like Dungeon and Dragons, and The Drinkery. Red Dot Diva likes the sound of the The Drinkery, which is plugged as a cyber-punk themed lounge space, where food and drinks are available for hungry, thirsty gamers and attendees. Oooh. Red Dot Diva wonders if the servers will be in cyber-punk wear too?

So, what else can folks expect from Gamestart Asia version 4?

E-SPORT TOURNAMENTS
As in past years, the key highlights are the e-sport tournaments held during the convention days. The South-East Asia Major (SEAM) 2017, Asia's largest fighting game tournament, will be back and competitive gamers can aim for victory in games like Capcom's Street Fighter V, Tekken V and Gundam Versus.

With the popularity of mobile games on the rise, the South-East Asia Mobile Major (SEAMM) will also be held during Gamestart Asia for Shadowverse (which has a USD 5,000 prize pool), Vainglory and Gamestart Pixel Battle. Those who prefer Tabletop Games can sign up for competitions as well.

For registrations: check out the Official Tournament listing on Gamestart Asia's website.

HADO'S AR TECHNO SPORTS EXPERIENCE
Gaming technology has also advanced toward Augmented Reality (AR) in recent years. So, it's very exciting to see that Gamestart Asia will be bringing in the world's first AR Techno Sports to Singapore (by HADO Singapore)! With wearable tech devices, fans can try to battle it out in the AR sphere put into play by motion sensors . It's like working out but with advance technology. Just look at the video below - you can move around unrestricted rather than sitting down on a chair. It looks so scifi or if you're a Marvel fan, so Team Avengers!

HADO Singapore is in the process of opening a concept store in *SCAPE next month, so do follow their Facebook page for more information.

CREATOR GUESTS
Made possible by partner AFA (Anime Festival Asia), the creators of post-apocalyptic, action role-playing game NieR: Automata, Yoko Taro (Director) and Yosuke Saito (Producer), will be at Gamestart Asia!

COSPLAY GUESTS
What's a gaming show without cosplayers? This year, popular Australian cosplayer Yasemin Arslan (Vera Chimera) will be back to Red Dot Island to meet fans, and showcasing her skills in costume and prop making. For those who play Borderlands 2, Yasemin is the live action face behind Lilith the Siren.

Fellow Aussie cosplayer AstroKerrie will be joining her at Gamestart Asia. A huge fan of LARP, AstroKerrie is the ambassador of Epic Armoury, Australia’s largest LARP company. AstroKerrie also had the honour of being the official cosplayer for 2017 Overwatch World Cup in Sydney.

As in previous, fans should be able to have opportunities to interact and meet both of these talented cosplayers during the weekend.

EXHIBITOR BOOTHS - PLAYSTATION IS BACK!
After being missing last year, Playstation Asia (Sony Interactive) is back at Gamestart! This means that there is probably going to be a large Playstation booth at the show floor, with new and interesting game titles being showcased. YAYYY!

As Sony one of the leaders of VR games, expect to have a wild time getting into these immersive experiences. Red Dot Diva warns convention goers to also expect long line waiting to get their hands on these games!

Other exhibitors include Bandai Namco, Cygames as well as partner, Taipei Game Show, who will be bringing their indie game studios to the convention.

ARTBLOVK GALLERY EXHIBITION
Artblovk Gallery, located in Chinatown, is an exhibition space for comic book and game artists. As part of Gamestart Asia's Alyse art competition, the art pieces of the selected winners will be displayed, including these ones by winner Zen and runner-up Seraphina Lum.

Specially curated artwork from previous shows will also be in the exhibition. If you are interested in buying original art, some will be available on sale too!

... And MORE
A boon for those who need some retail therapy for their fandom needs, the very popular Doujin Market is also back at Gamestart Asia, with a larger space assigned to the vendors.

One of Red Dot Diva's favourite section is the Founders Base, where indie companies from South-East Asia and Taiwan can show off their products. Some of these games may look simple but they are ingenious, addictive and really fun!

In addition, leading up to the actual show days, the inaugural SEA Summit Business Conference organized specially for industry players, and International Mobile Gaming Awards (IMGA) will be held on 12 & 13 October, Friday at the Pixel Building. The SEA Summit is supported by venue partner, IMPIXEL. To register for the summit, head to this link.
