SDCC 2013: Exclusive Screen Preview of Starz' "Black Sails" For Fans!

Ahoy Mateys!

Word has been going around that Pirates are Wanted at this year's Comic-Con!

Starz TV is getting ready to release its premiere episode of "Black Sails". The TV series is scheduled to air on the cable channel in January 2015.

Lovers of Robert Louis Stevenson's books especially "Treasure Island" might be very interested in the upcoming pirate adventure TV series. It is after all, about Captain Flint and his men, and takes place about 20 years before what transpired in the literary classic.

The most feared pirate of his day, Captain Flint recruits a smart-talking young 'un called John Silver and together, the crew brutally fight for survival in the New Providence Island, a paradise for all kinds of scum and villainy.

The series stars lead actor Toby Stephens as Captain Flint. Now, here's a geeky trivia for you. 44-year-old Toby Stephens is the son of Dame Maggie Smith -- younger fans would know her as Professor MacGonagall in the wildly popular "Harry Potter" movies and as Countess Violet, the irrepressible dowager in "Downton Abbey". Toby Stephen is also well-remembered in his role as megavillain Gustav Graves in the James Bond movie "Die Another Day".

Young Aussie actor Luke Arnold has been cast as John Silver. The rest of the cast include Zach McGowan ("Shameless") as rival Captain Charles Vane; Toby Schmitz as Vane's right hand man Rackham; Hannah New as Eleanor Guthrie, New Providence's gutsy young lady smuggler; Jessica Parker Kennedy as a tortured young prostitute named Max; Clara Paget as the beautiful but cold-blooded Anne Bonny and Tom Hopper ("Merlin") as Billy Bones.

"Black Sails" is created by Jon Steinberg, the brainchild of TV dramas "Jericho" and "Human Target". Produced by Michael Bay as well as his partners Brad Fuller and Andrew Form, one would expect lots of explosions and action happening in "Black Sails". Hopefully, it is less loud and more classily rendered in this highly anticipated TV series than "The Transformers" movies. But it sure looks like there is going to be a whole lot of debauchery and uber-bloody swashbuckling going on! Red Dot Diva's kind of show.

Just have a gander at the trailer!
